Legacy Oracle process pack
The legacy Oracle process pack is an add-on to the legacy Software Asset Management (com.snc.software_asset_management) plugin that provides the ability to manage software licensed under the Oracle licensing model.
Important: The legacy Oracle Process Pack is not required for tracking and managing Oracle licenses through the Software Asset Management publisher pack for Oracle, which is available as part of the Software Asset Management Professional (com.snc.samp) plugin. The Oracle publisher pack includes all capabilities that are required for tracking and managing Oracle licenses. See Software Asset Management publisher pack for Oracle for more information on the Oracle publisher pack.
Administrators can use this feature to perform the following functions.
- Identify the software packs installed on Oracle database servers.
- See the software packs that are currently in use.
List which options are installed and in use.
Using software counters with the legacy Oracle Process Pack
There are two distinct ways to count Oracle software through the legacy Oracle Process Pack. Be sure that your Oracle models are set up accurately.- Software models for the legacy Oracle Process Pack
In order to count Oracle software licenses, you must create software models for your Oracle software. - Request the legacy Oracle Process Pack
The legacy Software Asset Management - Oracle Process Pack (com.snc.sam.oracle.pp) plugin can no longer be activated upon request. If the legacy plugin has already been activated on your ServiceNow instance, you can continue to use the legacy Oracle Process Pack. - Installed with the legacy Oracle Process Pack
The following tables, fields, and license calculation types are installed with the legacy Oracle process pack. - Create an Oracle software license for the legacy Oracle Process Pack
To use the legacy Oracle process pack, you must create an Oracle software license. - Validate legacy Oracle Process Pack requirements for associating software installations with Oracle mappings
Meet the recommended requirements to ensure that you receive the highest quality results with Oracle mapping. - Run the Oracle software counter for the legacy Oracle Process Pack
Running the Oracle software counter is a requirement to associate a software installation with an Oracle mapping.
