Propose a major incident

Propose an incident to a major incident candidate based on the incident information.

Before you begin

Role required: itil

Procedure

  1. Open an incident record.

    For information about creating an incident in Service Operations Workspace, see Create an incident in Service Operations Workspace.

  2. On the incident record, use the following information to decide if you want to propose this incident:

    • Incident information on the Overview tab
    • Incident information on the Details tab
    • Incident information on the Related records tab
    • Record information on the Contextual side panel For more information on the tabs, see Managing a major incident record.

  3. On the incident record for the incident that you want to propose, select Propose Major incident.

  4. On the Propose Major incident window, fill in the details.

    FieldDescription
    Work notesReason for proposing the incident as major incident candidate.
    Business ImpactDetails of the impact created by the incident on the business.

  5. Select Propose Major incident.
