This Accelerator provides a demonstration of the possibilities and capabilities of automating and standardizing CMDB data entry.

Accelerator Overview

Introduction to CMDB: Ingestion provides Impact customers with a comprehensive overview and demonstration of how to standardize input sources for their Configuration Management Database (CMDB). This offering covers core functionality for obtaining and importing data, providing a clear understanding of the various methods to populate CMDB tables within a ServiceNow instance. This Accelerator also includes key resources and leading practice guides to help customers get started.

The focus of this session is on Service Graph Connectors. Additional methods of population such as via Discovery or Agent Client Collector (ACC) are not deeply explored within this accelerator.

Requested Customer Resources

Customer Resource Responsibilities 
Platform Owner- RequiredResponsible for the overall accountability of the ServiceNow platform. Provides leadership and oversight to the System Administrators, ensures team alignment to business strategy and the ServiceNow roadmap, and is actively involved in the overarching governance of the platform.
System Administrator(s)- RequiredMaintains the stability and usability of the ServiceNow platform by performing application maintenance, managing support for cases related to ServiceNow applications, and contributing to ServiceNow software releases by delivering configuration tasks and features.
Process Owner(s)- RequiredA senior leader within each business unit for each major process or service, (for example, incident, change, employee onboarding) who is accountable for ensuring the process is fit for purpose. 
Developer(s)- RecommendedWrites code for the ServiceNow platform.
CMDB Administrator(s)-RecommendedMaintains the stability and usability of the ServiceNow platform by performing application maintenance specifically within the CMDB.
Data Source Owner(s)-RecommendedData source/silo key resource who commonly works to bring information from another tool into ServiceNow CMDB.
Trusted Service Partners-RecommendedAttends ServiceNow Impact Accelerator coaching session(s) to understand leading practices and potentially support customer going forward.
