Setting up Health and Safety Risk Management

Set up your implementation for Health and Safety Risk Management by installing the application and reviewing and configuring the components that are installed with the application.

• Install Health and Safety Risk Management
  You can install the Health and Safety Risk Management application (sn_hs_rm) if you have the admin role. The application includes demo data and installs related ServiceNow® Store applications and plugins if they are not already installed.
• Create a safety risk category
  Create or modify a risk category to group your workplace hazards into logical categories.
• Define Health and Safety hazards
  Identify and define potential workplace hazards related to a job or task type. Maintain a list of all hazards for all job types in your organization.
• Create a safety control measure category
  Create or modify a control measure category to group your safety controls into logical categories.
• Define Health and Safety control measures
  Define effective control measures to eliminate or minimize the risks associated with each workplace hazard to help prevent workplace accidents and injuries. Maintain a list of all the controls in place in your organization for every type of job and the associated risks.
• Configure a safety risk matrix
  Configure a safety risk matrix to define levels of risk using likelihood vs severity and to define risk tolerances.​ You can review and modify the risk matrixes available with the application or add new ones for your organization.
• Define a job in the job register
  Define jobs and their steps (if any), in the job register to predefine hazards and controls for each job type in your organization.
• Configure creating actions from smart assessment questionnaire
  You can configure the property that enables you to create actions for the smart assessment questionnaire. This action creation can be enabled for one or more questions as needed.
• Configure the smart assessment template for safety inspections and audits
  You can create smart assessment templates and add instructions, questions, and reference information by using the template designer in the Smart Assessment Engine application.
• Configure a safety inspection or audit survey
  Review surveys available with the Health and Safety Risk Management application. Modify the survey, or create one or more surveys to use for different workplaces or to check other areas of concern.
• Define a category and measurement unit for an exposure type
  Define a category and measurement unit for an exposure type. If needed, you can also associate a subcategory with an exposure type category.
• Configure permit-to-work
  Configure permit type, permit checklist, checklist type, and edit a permit form.
