Submit a safety observation as an employee

Submit a safety observation through the Employee Center to report it to the safety department for an investigation.

Before you begin

Role required: sn_ohs_im.requestor

Procedure

  1. Navigate to All > Self-Service > Employee Center.

  2. In the Employee Center, under the Health and Safety menu, select the Health and Safety Observations option and then select Report Health and Safety Observation.

  3. On the form, fill in the fields.

    Note:

    • The Contractors involved option appears only when the Health and Safety Contractor Management (sn_hs_crm) application is installed on your instance. For more information, see Additional features in Health and Safety. The field only lists users who have the [snc_external] role assigned to them and have their Health and Safety profile created. For more information, see Assign Health and Safety profile to a user.
    • The Assets field appears only when Expanded Model and Asset Classes [sn_ent] application in installed. For more information, see Additional features in Health and Safety.
    • If necessary, attach an image about the observation using the add attachments icon (

  1. Select Submit.

  2. To track the status and updates to your safety observation, navigate to the My Requests list and open the record.

Result

  • Based on the selected category, a safety observation is submitted in the New state and is available in the My Requests list in the Employee Center.

  • The affected person receives a pre-configured email notification about the observation submission.

What to do next

As a safety manager or agent, if the observation isn’t assigned to you, you can assign it to yourself and start working on it. You can also assign it to another safety agent. For more information, see Assign a safety incident or observation.
